Sunrise on the Jetty

Up early on a clear cold and windy morning, in time to watch the sun rise.

Looking east, this is what it looked like this morning –

Turn 180 degrees and this was the view, a pink/blue sky and the lighthouse.

Yesterday I mentioned the Long-tailed duck and today we had a few of the males doing a pretty nice job of displaying.  Cute little fella.

This young lady, a female Black Scoter kept us busy sitting on this rock forever this morning.  Kept waiting for the tide to come in so we could see her leap up off the rock in a whirl of wings and feathers, instead she just floated off and went on her way.

It’s sooo cool to see new ducks! I haven’t even heard of these guys before. The long tailed duck is really incredible, I love the tail feathers! Nice images Mark.

Thanks, Denise, it was a very cool trip, an other worldly type of place. And strangely enough, not a bird in sight!
