Spoonies!

Certainly not in Ohio tonight, unless this guy is extremely, extremely lost.  Nope, Tampa Fla. going after Roseate Spoonbills.  Alafia Bank in Tampa Bay is one of the largest nesting areas in the state of Florida for the spoonbills.  It’s still pretty early so there aren’t as many as there will be in another few weeks.  We did have a pack of about a dozen that came and went throughout the afternoon.  Tomorrow we’ll try again, the weather is supposed to clear off and be much better.  Hope to see more with better light.

Several Long Billed Curlews were foraging for food all along the sand bar.  This is a new species for me, so that’s pretty exciting!
