Fall Ducks

I’ve been watching the ducks on the pond for the last couple of days.  Every day there seems to be a few more.  Today I counted seven pairs cruising around as the sun set.  Even though the fall colors arn’t quite as spectacular as in the past, it’s been way too dry, the sun brought out the colors reflecting off the water.  All the ducks in these photos are mallards, males are brightly colored with the dark green heads and the females the dusky brown.  However, as you will see in the slide show, there was one interloper who joined the group only briefly.  Actually two since it was a pair of wood ducks, male and female.  I think you’ll be able to pick him out as he is quite colorful.  So, please click on the image here to see the whole show.

perhaps it is time to wish some of our feathered friends safe travels until next year. yet, i am looking forward to your winter shots of the remaining wildlife here and abroad!
