ALASKA!

It’s hard to believe, but when I woke up this morning I was in Homer Alaska!  Ok, so I did spend many, many hours on planes yesterday to get here, it’s just that it’s hard to fathom until you wake up the next morning, look out your window and mutter to yourself, we ain’t in Kansas anymore!  Or in my case, Ohio.

I’m on another adventure, thanks again to Artie Morris, who’s leading this little expedition to photograph bald eagles here in Homer.  We are a group of around twelve from all over, excited to spend the next week following these gorgeous birds, in hopes of getting those perfect shots.

The day started out pretty raw with high winds, cold high winds, and a bunch of rain.  By later in the afternoon the weather gave us a break and we made our way across the bay in two boats in search of these majestic birds.  The light wasn’t the best with the overcast sky, but being the first day it didn’t dampen our enthusiasm one bit!

And the eagles didn’t disappoint!

So, we’ll hope for a little better weather, some sun at least, and head back out to see if we can capture to pure essence of these beautiful birds.
