I didn’t get much of a chance to go into the story behind the fireworks from last night, so here it is. Deb came up in the afternoon to let us know that there were fireworks over in Powell for “Powell Days”. So we thought about the best place to be on the farm to see them and with our strategy planned all that was left was to wait. Come about 10:15 we’re set up at our barn when the first goes off……. behind the trees. So now a mad dash down the drive to see if that would work, maybe even on the road. Way behind the trees. Move to Deb’s front yard, almost there. Finally jumped in the six wheeler and headed back up the hill to the second field…..perfect! Now these were being set off about two miles or so away, Deb’s got her 200 mm lens and I have a 70. Really tiny fireworks. So I drive back to the truck to get my 200, much better. Now realize, we just had a storm move through, passing on to the east with some great lightning in the clouds. The fireworks are off to the west. We had a light show in both directions and it was hard to choose, but the fireworks won. These images were made at 200mm, f8 and varied from about 6 sec. to 15 sec. Can’t wait till the 4th to try some new things.
As always clicking on the image makes it bigger
