A Fitting Ending!

A clear and very cold morning with a thin crust of ice on the crane pools.  After spending the night at the pools, the cranes will take off in small groups, heading north with the mountains as their backdrop.  These are majestic birds, so graceful in flight.

Landing……well, maybe not so graceful.

The widgeons on the other hand, handle the landing a little better.  But they’re small and have soft water to land on.

We visited the Albuquerque Zoo’s duck pond today.

So ends our week at Bosque.  It was truly a wonderful experience, not just photographically but just to be there for the sunrises and sunsets.  The geese blasting off in the early morning light and those blackbirds flying around in huge bunches, seemingly out of control.  The widgeon pond and the zoo’s duck pond, but most of all the great group of people we were with that really made this an experience of a lifetime.  Thanks to all of them!
