Well, I told you something different. A swirly pelican. When things slow down and there’s not much happening, you try some weird things! By the way, this was made in camera, no funny stuff after the fact.
One favorite of mine is the long billed curlew. That would be the one in front. His little buddy is a semi palmated plover. The sand bar was pretty quiet this morning so these little guys had the run of the place.
The next two are cormorants, both picking up nesting material. All the birds are getting ready for mating season and that means building a nest. It’s amazing how much they carry considering their size.
Finally, this afternoon we made a side trip to Medard State Park, where we saw this quite handsome brown pelican. There were some other very neat stuff, but that will wait for another day.
