My first trips to the 12 Hours of Sebring sports car race were in 1972 ’73. I still have the color slides and the B&W negatives from that trip. About a month ago as this years race approached, I decided to make the trip down and have another go at photographing the race. It’s been quite sometime since I have photographed at the races so I hoped it wouldn’t take too long to get back into it. I’ve had a ton of practice over the years with birds in flight, but these cars were moving faster and I didn’t have the benefit of a tripod and gimbal head to support the equipment. I’ve ended up tossing three quarters of the images but still was happy with what I got. Had a load of fun too, which was the point of this exercise. I put together a little slide show with some of the images, hope you enjoy!
And, Yes, in the night shots, those are the brake discs glowing red hot!
The slideshow will play automatically, however, there is a small arrow in the lower right hand corner that goes to full screen and there you can use the manual controls.

Really cool photos, perhaps you could teach me at mid ohio
Thanks! We should do that! Only problem with Mid-Ohio is they’ve put up a lot of catch fencing you have to shoot through, not great.
