Espanola – Gardner Bay

Our first landing of the day was at Gardner Bay, a barefoot landing as the beach was one of the softest I’ve ever been on. It was like a mix of sugar and flour. Beautiful white sand and gorgeous pale blue water.

Sea Lion Pup

This just might be my favorite image so far!

We had lots of sea lions, mockingbirds, finches and crabs to go along with the beautiful coastline, which was a mix of sugar sand and dark lave rocks with green moss growing on them.

The Rocky End of the Beach

This one looks like a giant sugar donut to me! With a face!!

Galapagos Mockingbirds

The mockingbirds were all over the beach. At one end while I was trying to film one of the Sally Lightfoot crabs, I had a mockingbird land on my shoulder! Needless to say, the video jumped when I jumped!

Male Yellow Warbler

He may have followed me from our landing yesterday. I really liked him sitting on the moss covered rock.

Sally Lightfoot Crab

A nice mix of colors!

Well, that was our morning. We moved the Samba around Espanola to Punta Suarez for our afternoon as well as tomorrow morning. Way too much from those landings to include here, so tomorrow, we explore a new very special place!
