I’ve been watching this little fellow over the past few weeks. He shows up around mid day or early afternoon, mostly when I don’t have my camera around. Today, I got lucky. He’s a male Indigo Bunting, the first I’ve seen around our yard. I read something really interesting about them, they have no blue pigment in their feathers! They are actually black!! In bright sunlight, the diffraction of light through the structure of their feathers makes them appear blue. Whatever it is, they sure are striking to see and awful pretty.
